The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly of Shipping (30 Rock and The Office)

Good: Ships on the rise.
In Subway Hero, Jack's smile at the end of the ep that he hides from Liz.
Jack and Liz in matching sweaters at Ludachristmas in Episode 209.
Eps and shippiness that are subtlety at work.

Bad: Ships on the decline.
Recent eps including Michael and Jan in The Office.
The Dinner Party in which Jan is psycho.

Ugly: Show abandonment
Should I watch The Office even though I feel they just may have jumped the shark (at least with my ship)?

Anyone else have any random, disjointed thoughts on above shows, especially related to fave couples?

Oh gosh I empathize with you. I only watch The Office because I really love Steve a lot and I floved Michael/Jan because they were so sweet and awkward and you know, not dumb and insane (respectively). Very upset with what they have done to this ship because it had so much potential for both of them to change for the better and be happier people and instead they did this absurd and unnecessary twist. The worst part is I can't see how they can turn it around. TPTB have really driven the ship off a cliff. I'm not a Jam shipper so I don't share their joy with 70% of TO's audience. I'll continue watching because my Steve love is great but definitely not as enthusiastically as in the past.

But Jack/Liz! I think the last 2 episodes were really shippy. Especially the way Jack acts around Liz, I do think that Jack is a little infatuated with her. He wants her to succeed financially, he isn't angry with her at all even when she insulted him because he knows she didn't mean it, he bumps Dennis immediately when he finds out that she bought Dennis dinner. I think his actions have definitely been a lot more than just mentoring. That being said, I don't want it to happen at least until season 4. I don't think I can take it if they ruin it like what happened to M/J and it would be dangerous for the show because the J/L relationship is a HUGE part of what makes 30 Rock so awesome. Little things like the look are enough for me right now.

Okay. How often do you meet a M/J and J/L shipper. We are an endangered species.
We should definitely friend.

I hate how Pam seems to think it's okay to encourage Michael to date (and has in the past -- in The Job) when it's obvious he's still in denial about Jan.

I barely watched this episode. First, no Jan in it (aside for the phone, but does that really count?!), and that means no Melora, so my number one reason for watching is not there. Second, the trainwreck M/J are on is just awful to watch, especiailly when Michael gets encouragement in the wrong direction from his friends and co-workers.

I'm heartily disappointed. After such a long time with no new episodes, I'm sure that we'll be stuck pondering what'll happen to our favorite couple long into the summer.

I love Melora and Steve. But I don't know if things continue this way... I don't know. I certainly I won't be happy. TPTB have really screwed up things.
